Meet the Team: Tony Lyren
Apr 06, 2022
Meet Tony, our Sales Agronomist in Doland. Tony joined the Full Circle Ag team in the summer of 2013 and became full-time after graduating from SDSU in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy (go Jacks!)
Tony grew up on a farm east of Turton. He has been a member of the Spink County Conservation District Board for 6 years and was a part of the 2020 SDABA Tomorrow’s Ag Leaders class.
When asked what inspires Tony, two of his favorite quotes come to mind. “Thomas Jefferson once wrote to George Washington, ‘Agriculture is our wisest pursuit, because it will in the end contribute most to real wealth, good morals, and happiness.’ Those are certainly words to live by and a strong reminder that farms are businesses which many of us rely on for income and quality of life. The second quote is from Aldo Leopold and reminds us that we can’t take our farm resources for granted: ‘The destruction of soil is the most fundamental kind of economic loss which the human race can suffer.’ Land is a limited resource, so it is critical that we take care of it collectively to ensure the prosperity of future generations.”
Providing value to our member-owners is a number one priority for Tony. “Tailoring inputs to meet a farmer’s agronomic and financial needs is what I strive to do. I farm a small amount with my dad and brother, so I understand the complexities of farm management and the importance of putting all the pieces together. Whether it’s putting the right corn hybrid on the right acre or managing variable rate fertility down to a half an acre, every step matters.”
In his spare time, Tony enjoys spending time with his three children – especially on the farm. They love tractor rides and working cattle. He also enjoys hunting and anything outdoors.
