North Sargent FFA Chapter; Gwinner, ND

Feb 23, 2021

In honor of National FFA Week, we have decided to capitalize on our area FFA Chapters.

North Sargent FFA Chapter: Gwinner, ND

We spoke with Tanner Zetocha from the North Sargent FFA Chapter to see how things are going and check on National FFA Week plans and activities:  “Our FFA week is going to look a little different this year due to Covid-19.  Generally, we have “Ag Olympics” in the gym that grades 7th-12th participate in.  This year we are going to have a smaller scale operation of just the kids that take Agriculture education.  These games consist of a variety of different contests in which we will keep track of each class’s score.  Upon completion of the games, the winning class will get a pizza party! We will also set up several raffle games in which we will draw winners of FFA merchandise.  On the elementary side, my FFA officers will set up various coloring contest for grades K-3 and poster contest for grades 4-6.  We are looking forward to CTE month despite juggling a few obstacles.”

The past several months has been a time of change and adaptation for most of us. We asked Mr. Zetocha how his chapter has handled everything: “This year we have transitioned most of our FFA activities to virtual.  Just a few weeks ago we attended the virtual winter leadership conference (WLC).  Looking ahead to February 5th we will participate in our first contest of the year which will also be virtual.  On the bright side there have been several contests scheduled for late February that we will get to attend in person.  Both myself and kids are greatly looking forward to attending in person.”

When asked about goals for his chapter going forward, Mr. Zetocha had this to say: “My personal goals for our chapter are to keep students excited about agriculture education and FFA.  We have had an increase in interest in both each year and I hope to continue to grow and evolve as a relatively new chapter.  Upon the completion of the 2021 school year we will be accepting applications for 3 new replacement officers for our graduating seniors (Kyanna Halmrast - President, Christina Mathias - Treasurer, and Brayden Wehseler - Reporter).”

Sounds like things are going very well in Gwinner and the Full Circle Ag team wishes the chapter continued success!
