Weekly Energy Insights - August 2, 2018

There appears to be a minor cool down in the weather pattern. It was 43 degrees at 6:30 this morning. Hopefully this weather pattern doesn’t continue. My gut tells me there will be an early fall this year.

It has been another interesting week in the fuel markets. There was a sudden downturn in the market on Tuesday that continued into Wednesday. Although the market did close down Wednesday, it had started to come back after a noon adjustment. Thursday, the markets closed with diesel up 3.4 points and gas up 2.3 points. So much for the downtrend. Geopolitical news seemed to be the main drivers behind the downward pressure on the market as the inventories turned out bullish.

If you are in need of FM or RM for harvest, I would recommend at least getting a piece of your needs covered. It seems like $2.35-$2.45 may be the range we are stuck in for FM right now. Other than the occasional hiccup as was seen Tuesday and Wednesday, I don’t see much downside in the market. Unfortunately, given that short time span, it is virtually impossible to react quick enough or have enough trucks available to really take advantage of it!

Just a quick reminder - summer fill for LP is going until August 31st. Orders need to be in by August 15th.
Taking advantage of our contract or budget programs is also something I always recommend.
Also, our service techs will be doing LP system checks for another month yet.

Have a good weekend and thanks for your patronage.
