Weekly Insights - April 30, 2018

Things are looking up. The sun is shining, the temps are up, and the wind is blowing. Terragators and tender trucks are starting to roll and there is an urgency about the agronomy locations. All signs that spring may have finally arrived albeit a month late. The common denominator in every conversation lately has been the weather. Within a week I am sure that will change to ground conditions, fertilizer rates, and “When can you get here!?”
Also on everybody’s mind has been fuel prices and why are they going up? The simplest answer to that is “because they can.” Although that is my feeling, some days when the market moves for seemingly no reason, there is a lot more to it than that. Most days it seems geopolitical news is more of a market driver than actual energy news. This week’s big story is whether or not President Trump will pull out of the Iranian nuclear deal and impose more sanctions. Also, the inventory reports indicated a 2.6 mmb draw on diesel and a 1% plus decrease in refinery runs. Also, of some interest is the refinery explosion and fire in Superior WS.
With all of that being said, the markets overall this week have been to the upside 4-5 cents. As we are starting the spring rush there really is not a perfect time to buy. There is nothing in the headlines that indicate a drastic drop.  If you are needing any product to at least get started give us a call and we will offer the best price we can for Cenex Premium Diesel.
As a reminder, if you need bulk oil or DEF fluid give FCA a call. Our bulk oil truck is making its rounds and we have 330 gallon DEF totes and 55 gallon barrels.
THANKS for your patronage and have a safe spring!!
